May 11, 2010· A process for imparting flame resistance and the flame resistant fabrics produced by such process are provided. The process for imparting flame resistant properties involves treating a target fabric with one or more flame retardant chemicals (and, preferably, a softening agent) and then curing the treated fabric to durably affix the flame retardant to the fabric.

Flame Resistant vs Flame Retardant - What You Need to Know

Oct 05, 2015· The biggest difference between flame resistant and flame retardant fabrics lies in how each is made. Without a special chemical application, a fabric will not qualify as flame retardant. Similarly, without being made of certain nonflammable fibers, a fabric will not quality as fire resistant.

The flame-retardant properties of the nylon 6 nanofibre-modified cotton fabric and the uncoated cotton fabric were resolved with an inclined (45°) flame-retardant testing machine. Results showed that nylon 6 nanofibre is of a superhydrophobic nature with enhanced flame-retardant properties to cotton fabrics.

Know Your Fibers: The Difference Between Polyester and Cotton

In the latest installment of our Know Your Fibers series, we take a look at two fiber stalwarts: cotton and polyester. Most people know that cotton is a natural fiber and polyester is a man-made synthetic fiber. However, these fibers have other differences as well.
